Absolut ice bar By Harley Straten Has anyone visited the Absolut Ice bar yet? what an experience! When you walk in, you are given a well insulated poncho type jacket with a hood and gloves. You then walk into a sub zero bar! I think it may have been a very large walk-in freezer from the restaurant. Anyway, you go up to the bar, which is entirely built of blocks of ice and you order your vodka cocktail drinks. These drinks are served in small blocks of ice which have been fashioned into glasses. This is one of the reasons you have the gloves. The other reason is because it is really cold, even with all your outdoor clothes on and the poncho. I understand the staff work in shifts of an hour and a half. In the bar, there are a few ice sculptures and tables and stools. All of these items are made entirley of ice. The stools have pieces of fur on them that you sit on so you don't freeze your butt off! The stools were great for sliding across the metal floor! The Vodka cocktails were excellent. It appeared that about 50 people at a time were in the bar. After about half an hour, it is enough already and you really do need to go and warm up. A really interesting and different experience that I would recommend, particularly if you like vodka. You can find it at www.belowzerolondon.com
