Apollo 11
I remember reading an article about Michael Collins. he was the pilot of Apollo 11 who stayed in the Command Module whilst Armstrong and Aldrin were on the Moon in July 1969.
He said that, whilst his colleagues were on the Moon,
when he looked down at the Earth he realised that there were 3 billion people on it and that he was the furthest person away from any other that there had ever been.
More significantly, there are now nearly 7 billion people on this planet. The population has more than doubled in less than 40 years. |
