Chelsea Football Club
Chelsea Football Club was founded in 1905. Whilst they were for nearly 100 years, playing for the most part in the top tier of English Football, they did not win very much. They won the League title in 1955 and the FA Cup in 1970 and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1971. But that is about all and compared to their competitors, that was a very poor return. A few years ago, one of the world's richest men, Roman Abramovich bought the Club. He has spent over £500,000,000 (say a Billion Dollars, give or take) in bringing the finest players in the World to Stamford Bridge (the home of Chelsea). The players at Chelsea earn up to about £150,000 per week. Chelsea are now one of the top 5 football clubs in the World and win many trophies and compete in the very biggest tournament of all; The Champions League. In this competition, they were runners up last season, having lost the Cup on penalty kicks to Manchester United. It's a funny thing what money can do!
